ANEMONE
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, Anemone means “daughter of the wind”.
A member of the Ranunculaceae family, over 100 species may be found growing wild throughout Europe, North America, and Japan.
They are typically found on the cut flower market from January through March. Local greenhouses in Colorado grow them indoors, and they are also shipped in from the Holland and California markets.
Their cheerful and whimsical appearance, bold electric colors, and unique “black” (and sometimes green) center, make them a very popular flower with brides. Colors you will commonly find the cut varieties available in are red, white, hot fuschia, blue, and purple.
